Both have a hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale, the maximum possible, and behave the same way in daily use, meaning that virtually no other material can scratch them, except for another diamond.

But it's important to understand that the Mohs scale measures scratch resistance, not "indestructibility" or impact resistance (toughness). In other words: natural and lab-grown diamonds are not unbreakable – a strong blow, pressure on edges, or a more abrupt impact can chip or break the gemstone.

Therefore, what truly guarantees the stone's security is much more about good cutting, how it is set in the jewelry, and daily care, rather than its natural or lab-grown origin.

The criteria used to evaluate are: cut, color, clarity, and carat. They determine the brilliance, purity, size, and value of the stone—whether natural or lab-grown.

At Vangolden, we primarily work with natural diamonds of color I, clarity VS+, and excellent cut, and with lab-grown diamonds of color D–E–F, clarity VVS1, and excellent cut, always seeking a balance between beauty, brilliance performance, and value.

Yes. Here at Vangolden, we offer recognized gemological certificates for lab-grown diamonds starting from 1 carat and for natural diamonds starting from 0.30 carat, upon request.

For diamonds smaller than these sizes, we employ a strict quality curation process, following criteria of cut, color, clarity, and carat, always with transparency regarding the gemstone's characteristics.

If you value tradition, geological rarity, and the history of owning a gemstone formed by the earth itself above all else, and don't mind investing more for it, a natural diamond is the most aligned choice.

If you want a real diamond, with the same beauty and durability, but prefer a more rational use of your budget – whether to get a larger stone, one with better color and clarity, or to balance it with other plans for the couple – a lab-grown diamond makes a lot of sense.
